For over 20 years there has been very useful software missing from the marketplace. Almost as if by design.
Sometimes it's hard to realize what's missing until
someone fills the void.
Have you ever had a need to send out bulk emails? A lot, a little, in batches, or all at once, with or without attachments, with or without inline images and links, with a desire to individualize them but no idea how to do that and be efficient too? Some in need of custom notes, while the rest not. A way to "proof yourself" before making a mess of a mailer?
Most who have not done it before have never thought of any of those. Those of us that have, realized really quick that it's either all or nothing.
All - You sign up for a service that may or may not have a "free" intro that works for you. It's probably not overly easy to use, due to so many features, many of which you may not need. If you grow a contact list much at all, you will be wed to them for life financially, even if you only want to contact subsets of people in your lists very intermittently.
Nothing - You create a single email, hope you got it right, put a ton of names in the BCC field (not the cc field), and hit send. If you got it right, it fills the need with no customization to those that got the mailer, while disclosing they were on a bcc list, making it a bit impersonal. If it's to folks who you generally know or who generally might be interested in your products or services, the "unsubscribe" requests might be low enough you can handle them manually along with the bounced emails.

Doing it manually can be cumbersome to put together and prone to mistakes and errors, especially if you break your mailer into multiple sense
The companies that offer freemium and paid services may be good and cost effective for larger companies, but for smaller folks, it's often too much too fast.
There is not much in between doing it all manually and getting sucked in to a full blown and often bloated system with required recurring expenses for life as soon as ...
